Prison Ministry Workshop

Guardian Angels is in the planning stages of developing a new Prison Ministry. We are exploring how we can reach out to incarcerated individuals and support their spiritual growth and needs. We are holding a workshop on Saturday, October 7, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Peter O’Neill Hall. There is no cost to attend, and we will serve lunch.

Some areas, programs and groups we will explore:

• Discover how we can “visit” insiders from our home/parish.
• Sending birthday and holiday cards anonymously, including messages of hope with assistance and creativity from our Card Making Ministry at Guardian Angels
• Being prayer warriors – receive a monthly meditation to pray for those affected by incarceration. Send your request to to be included on this prayer chain.
• Being a pen pal - this is a one year commitment; we will receive guidance and guidelines through Order of Malta and Twin City Prison Ministry
• Working with Safe Families for Children -  an organization that seeks to keep children safe and families together.
• Fish - Families of the Incarcerated Support and Hope group – a monthly support group

Inside the prison wall opportunities: 

• Mentoring
• Retreats (residents encounter Christ, Charis), Residents Encounter Christ (REC)
• Volunteer programs offered by facilities, i.e. tutoring, etc.
• Faith Journey – Bible Teaching at Shakopee Women’s Prison

Outside Programs: 

• Working with returning citizens, as they transition to living within our Communities: 
• Life Rebuilders,
• VERUS Community,
• JCS Sober Living
