Guardian Angels welcomes new Trustee
On January 1, Steve Sims began a two-year term as trustee for our parish. Steve comes to this role with a variety of valuable experiences. He began his professional career as a teacher of junior high science and religion and later moved into school administration. He served as principal at both the elementary and high school level. He eventually left the field of education and took the necessary courses to become a hospital chaplain. This led to a 20+ year career with Fairview Hospice. He started as a staff chaplain. As time went on, he served as a grief counselor, co-chair of the ethics committee and as a manager. In his retirement, he conducts funerals. He finds great satisfaction working with families by giving suggestions and direction about meaningful and appropriate ways to honor their loved one.In addition to being a trustee, Steve serves our parish as a funeral coordinator, member of the Health and Wellness committee and is active with the penpal prison ministry program. In his spare time he enjoys being with friends, photography, music and taking long hikes with his dog, Ollie. Steve views his role as a trustee as a great opportunity to apply his experience, skills and insights to the wonderful work already taking place at Guardian Angels as well as to the challenges that lie ahead. If you haven’t met Steve, please know he would welcome the chance to meet you!
