About Us/Mission and Vision
Prior to the 1850’s, the Oakdale area was a stop on a narrow Native American trail through the woods. It became a stagecoach station halfway between Hudson and St. Paul. Early settlers wanted a Catholic Church established, so Guardian Angels Catholic Church was founded in 1857. There have been five churches on our property, a log church, a clapboard church, the current Historic Church, built in 1885, a temporary church, which is the current Peter O’Neill Hall, was occupied for 27 years and the current Church dedicated in 1991 which seats 1,100. Guardian Angels also has a parish cemetery that was established in 1869.
